GILLOWS of LANCASTER – Early/Mid 19th Century Rosewood Chiffonier
A superb quality mid 19th Century GILLOWS rosewood CHIFFONIER of excellent colour and patina. It has an exquisite brass gallery to the upper shelf, lovely decorative cross-stretcher supports to each side of the upper shelf. There are grille fronted double doors to the base, with two adjustable shelves in the internal cupboard space. Mouldings to the base include typical ‘egg-and-dart’ pattern and floral rosettes, carved columns to both sides and typical Gillows solid apple feet.
A very attractive and useful piece of storage for use typically in a dining or drawing room but may also be used in a hallway as it is only 15 inches deep so not too intrusive.
This example is currently set up as a book shelf to the lower section, but if so desired pleated silk panels may be inserted into the back of each of the grilles. We can arrange this for an additional charge. Making it ideal for the storage of say a dinner service or glasses.
Measurements: Width 48 inches (122 cm); Height 50 inches (127 cm); Depth 15 inches (38 cm)
