Gillows Dumb Waiter
GILLOWS of LANCASTER: a fine example of the iconic 2-tier DUMB WAITER produced by Gillows early in the 19th century. The two circular revolving tiers are beautifully veneered with raised edges and are supported on a central carved and fluted solid mahogany column. This leads to the ‘hipped’ and reeded tripod legs which terminate in cast brass castors of fine quality.
Dimensions: 22.5ins diameter; 31ins high.
Although the original purpose of a dumb waiter was to hold condiments and sauces etc in the Dining Room, they are now of great use as side tables to hold drinks, newspapers and even TV remote controls etc.
