Chinese “Splash Gold” bronze Censer

A small but heavy Chinese bronze Censer**, with a pierced lid and ‘acorn’ finial and “splash gold” decoration to the body. Underneath it features a finely cast six-character mark.

** A censer is a bowl made to burn incense, usually crafted in bronze; porcelain, copper or stone. The first examples appeared around 200BC.
