Exceptional 18th century Verge Bracket Clock
John Pritchard of London: An exceptional 18th century verge BRACKET CLOCK in remarkably good original condition. The ebonised case with its upper carrying handle, features cast ormolu caryatids to the canted corners, and a gilded slip frame to the front door. The 8-day movement retains its original verge escapement with a finely engraved backplate (numbered 518), striking hours on a bell & repeating the hours at will. The fine dial with ornate spandrels, has “Strike/Silent” to the arch and the date above “VI”, whilst the centre is finely engraved with a scene and a signature. 19ins high.
