A fine late 18th century London mahogany Longcase Clock by Kenneth Maclennan
Price: £4650
A lovely quality and impressive late 18th Century London mahogany LONGCASE CLOCK in full working order.
The case is superb and typical of the design of London-made clocks of the period with it’s pagoda top, stop-fluted brass inlay to columns that flank the hood door. The long trunk door veneered in the finest flame mahogany; a figured panel to the base and a double plinth.
The 8-day movement has been professionally cleaned and it strikes hours on a bell and retains its original quality brass pendulum. The dial features a subsidiary seconds dial, original blued steel hands, date aperture above the ‘VI’ and Strike/Silent control in the arch.
The engraved signature on the maker Kenneth Maclennan of London can be seen either side of the ‘VI’.
Dated: c.1780
Perfect working order.
Height: 7ft 3inches tall
