262/12: A most unusual and very decorative Regency period Adjustable Fireside Fender of particularly fine quality. The central cast brass chain is supported on each side by beautifully cast ormolu (gilt bronze) "Hippocampi", which rest upon plinths decorated with fine ormolu mounts with further horizontal ormolu 'corbels' at both ends. 255/11: A beautifully modelled Royal Worcester Porcelain Sculpture of this fine American breed of thoroughbred: the "Appaloosa Stallion", designed by Doris Lintner and first produced in 1969. About 6ins high; 12ins long. c.1970
254/11: The most prized of all the Royal Worcester porcelain figures modelled by the famous Doris Lintner the Arab Stallion is a remarkable work of art. First produced in 1962, this remarkable "action" study shows the stallion in full flow with tail and mane flying, and is both rare and highly collectable. c.1965
251/11: A very fine quality early 19th century mahogany Wheel Barometer in lovely condition and in full working order. The case is of particularly well-figured mahogany with the unusual feature of a rounded top, and it incorporates a "Dry/Damp" indicator; long bow-fronted thermometer; beautifully engraved and silvered main dial, with convex glass and deep moulded cast brass bezel. c.1830

232/11: MICHAEL J. ALLARD: another gorgeous and most amusing large acrylic Painting on Canvas by this highly regarded and most proficient artist. "Get me to the Church on Time" depicts an African bride towing her groom to the church on a locally-made "limousine" ~ she pedals away with her precious goose in a precariously balanced basket, while he enjoys the first ~ and probably last ~ cigar of his life behind. All the ingredients of "Mick" Allard's work: African countryside; local inhabitants; and animals ~ all wrapped up in Mick's warm, delightful and quirky sense of humour. 50ins x 42ins. c.0
231/11: MICHAEL J. ALLARD: a large, charming, amusing and beautifully painted acrylic Painting on Canvas of two boys taking their lives in their hands courtesy of their precious bicycle. "Mick" Allard, British-born and resident of Zimbabwe is well known and highly regarded for his keenly-observed paintings which incorporate animals; locals; the glorious African countryside and his delightful and occasionally quirky sense of humour. His many commissions include studies of the late Bobby Kennedy 's children; 'Tiger' Woods and an enormous mural for the Duckhorn winery in St. Helena, California ~ together with their complete range of wine labels and other paintings. 229/11: A rare and attractive mid-19th century Chinese green-stained and natural Ivory Chess Set of "Staunton" pattern, complete with its original lacquer gilt-decorated board and storage box. Good condition though the giltwork on the board is a little rubbed. Kings about 3.25ins high. c.1860
210/11: ANTOINE LOUIS BARYE (1795-1875): a superb French Bronze Sculpture of a playful hound by this most famous sculptor and leading of the Animalier Movement. Almost certainly based on Barye's own pet "Tom", he sits on the seashore with his paw raised, playing with a crayfish at his feet. Keenly observed and beautifully modelled, this rarely seen bronze is illustrated in "Les Animaliers" on Page 29, by J. Horswell and may be cast by the famous goldsmith Leveque, as traces of silvering can be seen around the circular socle base, which contains the signature. Quite large: 24.5cms high, and a good mid-brown patina. c.1835
202/11: ROYAL DOULTON: a particularly fine Pair of Porcelain Vases by Royal Doulton. Each is beautifully handpainted with Italian scenes and both are inscribed underneath: "Isola Pescatori Lago Maggiore" and "Bellagio Lago-di-Como" together with the Royal Doulton mark. Both have gilded highlights to the rims and bases and both are signed by the artist: H. Stephenson (see detailed picture). Perfect condition. 6.75ins high. c.1900
196/11: SCHMIDT-HOFER: a charming and beautifully modelled Gilded Bronze study of a naked young girl dancing, her arms outstretched and her hair tied with a wide ribbon. It is signed in the bronze base: Schmidt-Hofer; Germany, and is raised on its original marble base, also carved: "Germany". Almost certainly Art Nouveau period, and a charming figure. About 12ins high. c.1890
185/11: A splendid and relatively rare PAIR of 18th century serpentine-fronted mahogany Cutlery or Knife Boxes in original condition. The sloping tops are veneered in finely-figured "flame" mahogany, and open to reveal the fully fitted interiors, which are capable of holding well over 100 pieces of cutlery between them, whilst the inside of the lids are inlaid with boxwood and ebony stars. The handles are escutcheons are engraved Old Sheffield Plate, whilst both the top and fronts are beautifully crossbanded in tulipwood between boxwood lines. A lovely par of boxes. **NB: Usually referred to as "Knife Boxes" these are actually fitted and intended to store all types of cutlery, including spoons; forks; carving knife & fork, and even pickle spoons. c.1780
176/11: An unusual and seductive Art Deco period Bronze Sculpture which depicts a beautiful and very scantily-clad voluptuous lady, reclining on her Classical Egyptian bed, feeding an apple to a Chinese pheasant perched upon her knee. She wears a stylish head-dress, and not much else, apart from a robe draped across her legs. Signed by the Sculptor: Ferdinand Liebermann, and with the foundry mark. Original marble base. About 13ins long. c.1920
175/11: A fine pair of early Royal Worcester Figures in porcelain, entitled "Before the Wind" and "Against the Wind". Modelled by James Hadley, and in superb condition, these figures were produced very early in the history of the factory, and indeed are dated 1867. (The Royal Worcester Company was formed in 1862). They stand about 11ins high and are beautifully handpainted in "Raphaelesque" colours with gilded highlights. Perfect condition and marked underneath. c.1867
132/11: A fabulous quality mid-19th century walnut lady's scent-bottle casket, which is beautifully veneered in finely-figured burr walnut and mounted with engraved and gilded mounts with the engraved and gilt handle on top. The lid opens to reveal the velvet and water-silk lined interior and the set of three original scent bottles, all with their original engraved silver-plated tops. A stunning box and in remarkably good condition. c.1875
