182/11: A very good quality early 19th century solid rosewood Canterbury or Magazine Rack in fine original condition. Rosewood was the most expensive "standard" wood used during the period, and this Canterbury illustrates what a splendid piece of furniture can be designed and made from this timber, with its "dished" divisions with shaped splats between well-turned uprights, and its good mahogany-lined frieze drawer. It is supported on elegant slender turned legs which terminate in the orginal brass castors. c.1820
