276/12: A superb quality early 19th century George III period figured mahogany LYRE-ENDED SOFA TABLE in lovely condition with many features that suggest it emanates from the workshops of Gillows. The "panelled" top is beautifully figured in "plum pudding" mahogany with ebony string inlay, whilst the frieze is similarly inlaid and contains two cedar-lined drawers. It is supported on particularly elegant "lyre" shaped standard ends which lead to sabre legs and original brass sabot castors. Much of the veneer work is in finest 'fiddle-back' mahogany and the whole table just 'reeks' of quality! 38ins wide (closed); 57ins wide (open); 24.5ins deep. c.1810

It is supported on gently "swelling" solid ends which lead to moulded quadrants and to delightful "turret" feet with their original cast brass castors within. As you would expect from Gillows ~ a very high quality table indeed. 50ins wide (open); 32ins wide (closed); 24ins deep front-to-back. c.1825
