FORTUNINO MATANIA (1881-1963) – Oil on Canvas titled ‘BLOSSOM’
A good oil painting on canvas in a simple glazed gilt frame. Entitled ‘Blossom’ this painting is of a favoured Jersey cow in its stall.
Active as an exhibiting artist from the age of 11, Fortunino Matania (1881-1963) was a prodigious artist of contrasting wartime ‘trench scenes’ and social bathing scenes, amongst others. He exhibited 10 works at the Royal Academy and 27 at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours.
Fully signed and inscribed to the reverse with the name of the cow ‘Blossom’ and Matania’s address in London.
