550/08: An excellent quality and very comfortable PAIR of Georgian style Wing Armchairs in very good condition. Currently well-upholstered in green brocade, with feather-filled seat cushions, both of these armchairs are supported on carved solid walnut cabriole front legs with well-swept plain walnut legs to the rear.

551/08: A lovely quality and most elegant late 18th century Sheraton period satinwood Cheveret or lady's writing desk in fine original condition. The removeable top has three drawers, all with their graduated ivory handles and all veneered in beautifully figured West Indian satinwood, whilst the lower section has a further larger drawer. It is supported on slender tapering legs terminating in pretty block feet.

552/08: A favourite piece of mine: this is a splendid example of a Regency period rosewood sliding-top Davenport in stunning condition. The many features include: rosewood gallery; upper pen-and-ink drawer with secret locking; fitted interior with small drawers; sliding top; twin slides (for candlesticks?) to either side; four long graduated drawers with dummies opposite and raised on delightful 'acorn' feet with concealed castors. A great example.

553/08: A charming late 18th century mahogany Secretaire-Bookcase of compact size. The upper section features a baluster gallery with figured panel doors which open to reveal adjustable shelves. Below, is a superbly fitted writing drawer with various small drawers; pigeon holes etc., and there are three further graduated drawers below, all with their original brass castors. 73ins high; 33ins wide.

554/08: Something a little different: an impressive mid-Victorian burr walnut Side Cabinet with so many uses around the home. The well-figured top has a good carved leading edge of ivy leaves whilst below, the two curved doors with their applied carving and mouldings, open to reveal three shelves within. It is raised on a plinth base, and is altogether a very pretty piece.

555/08: A good example of the ever-popular mid-18th century solid Virginia walnut Side Table with its solid one-piece top supported via a "birdcage" action (to tilt upwards if required) on a well-turned central pillar leading to good cabriole tripod legs and pointed pad feet. A good original specimen! 26ins diameter.

556/08: A very good quality early 19th century fold-over Card Table of true "D" shape. The well-figured top is crossbanded with purpleheart wood, and opens to reveal the baize-lined interior. The frieze below is 'panelled' with boxwood stringing with a central raised tablet with diamond inlay, also in purpleheart and with similar inlay above each of the tapering legs which terminate in spade feet. 36ins wide; 18ins deep.

557/08: I am always being asked for pretty and small bookcases, and here is an excellent example of an early 19th century Dwarf Bookcase in mahogany. With three adjustable shelves (making four in total) this pretty piece retains its original ornate brass gallery to the top, whilst the shelves are flanked by handsome rounded corners. It is supported on a plinth base and measures: 35ins wide; 48ins high.

558/08: An inexpensive and most impressive late Victorian solid mahogany Library Bookcase of compact size. Possibly Irish (the original receipt dated 1892 is available) it features a fine carved pediment with lion's mask central motif; three glazed doors flanked by Corinthian columns, which open to reveal the interior shelves; three drawers and further below, panelled doors which open to reveal storage shelves within. It is raised on a plinth base and measures: 8ft tall (max) and 5ft wide.

559/08: This is a very pretty late Regency or early Victorian lady's Sewing & Games Table of charming presence. The inlaid games top, opens to reveal the interior, fitted with various compartments and divisions in satinwood, whilst further below is the silk-pleated embroidery drawer. It is supported on solid satinwood lyre-shaped ends, united by a turned stretcher and leading to cabriole legs with scroll-carved feet and original castors. A delightful and elegant piece.

560/08: An excellent quality early 19th century mahogany bow-fronted Sideboard of ideal proportions for a smaller dining room. The well-figured top is crossbanded in satinwood, with boxwood edges whilst below is an arrangement of a long "cutlery" drawer flanked by two deep drawers, one of which is lined in lead for wine. There is pretty carving to the corners of the 'kneehole' and it is supported on shaped reeded tapering legs which end in pretty spade feet. 42ins wide.

561/08: Last - but certainly not least is this very pretty and useful 18th century mahogany Chest-of-Drawers of lovely small proportions. Below the well-figured solid top are four long graduated drawers, all veneered in beautifully figured timber and lined in oak, whilst all the cast brass rococco handles and key escutcheons are original. It is supported on shaped bracket feet and measures 31ins wide at the top and 18ins deep.
